Dead by Daylight: The Plague Is Still My Vommy Mommy in 2026

Dead by Daylight's The Plague turns Vile Purge into gross, satisfying pressure. Learn her infection tricks, Corrupt Purge, and best perks.

Confession time: in 2026, after dozens of new killers, reworks, and whatever the Entity is doing with matchmaking, I still load into Dead by Daylight, pick Adiris, and prepare to redecorate the trial with green regret. The Plague arrived back in March 2019 alongside Jane Romero in the 'Demise of the Faithful' chapter, and she remains one of the grossest, weirdest, and most satisfying killers to master. I am not a tournament player. I am a simple person: I see a survivor, I press the vomit button, and I feel powerful. Then I miss and vomit on a rock. Classic.

Her Power: Vile Purge, Or Projectile Bad Decisions

The Plague’s power is Vile Purge. It lets her projectile vomit on survivors and put them into the infected state. It is disgusting. It is also hilarious. Her vomit can infect generators, vaults, pallets, and lockers for a limited time too. If a survivor touches one of those gross objects while it is still infectious, they become infected without ever meeting me face to face. That is my favorite kind of multitasking.

Infected survivors vomit, infect objects they touch, and make extra noise for me to hear. Unless they cleanse, the infection can stop them from doing almost anything. They also get a sickness meter. Once it hits 100 percent, they get the broken status effect and cannot heal themselves unless they cleanse in one of the Pools of Devotion scattered around the map. I love watching a healthy survivor turn into a sad, leaking liability.

If a survivor cleanses, I can collect the now-bloody pool and gain Corrupt Purge. This turns my vomit from green to black, and for a limited time it injures survivors I hit, knocking already injured survivors into the dying state. It is basically a ranged temper tantrum. Use it, enjoy it, but do not build your entire personality around it.

Perks I Actually Appreciate

Perk What it does Teachable level
Corrupt Intervention Blocks the generators furthest from you at the start of the match for 80/100/120 seconds. 30
Infectious Fright When you put a survivor into the dying state, other survivors in your terror radius scream and reveal their location for 4/5/6 seconds. 35
Dark Devotion When you hit your obsession with a basic attack, you gain the undetectable status effect for 20/25/30 seconds. Your terror radius transfers to that survivor and is set to 32 metres. 40

Corrupt Intervention is great for forcing survivors closer to me early, which means more chances to infect them before they finish three generators and start acting smug. Infectious Fright is my little scream radar. Dark Devotion is chaos in perk form, and chaos is the only language I speak fluently.

Add-Ons Worth Slapping On

  • Black Incense - When a survivor vomits, their aura is revealed to you for 6 seconds, no matter where they are on the map. Yes, please. I enjoy knowing exactly which corner is having a bad day.

  • Blessed Apple - You start the match with two Pools of Devotion already bloody and corrupted instead of one. More black vomit, less waiting.

  • Vile Emetic - Considerably increases how effective Vile Purge is, pushing survivors toward the broken status or a cleanse sooner.

  • Incensed Ointment - Moderately reduces the cooldown of Vile Purge and increases your movement speed while charging it. It makes me feel less like a slow swamp witch and more like a slow swamp witch with somewhere to be.

My Totally Normal Plague Tips

  1. 🤢 You vomit a lot, so it only takes a little to infect a survivor. Vomiting on them further increases their infection status. Do not hold back. They already hate you.

  2. 🏃 When chasing infected survivors, actually entice them toward jungle gyms and loops. The more vaults and pallets they infect, the more information and pressure you get for free.

  3. 👀 Track infected survivors by finding infected window vaults. If a window is glowing with sickness, someone was recently nearby. It is like a gross little receipt.

  4. 🎯 Window vaults and pallets are the best moments to vomit accurately on survivors without wasting your power. But be careful: if you get stunned while you have Corrupt Purge, you lose that power. Do not chase a pallet stun like it owes you money.

  5. ⚠️ If you hit a survivor with a basic attack and then infect them, they will also instantly heal when they cleanse. Be aware of that weird interaction, or you will feel betrayed by math.

  6. ⚡ If you know survivors are near or working on a generator but cannot find them, vomit on it. When they return, they become infected. Pair that with Infectious Fright and finding survivors becomes much easier.

  7. 🧠 Do not rely solely on your power. Switch things up and hit survivors with basic attacks too. You are a killer, not a fountain.

  8. 🚧 Corrupt Intervention can force survivors closer to you, giving you the chance to infect them early. Use it to start the match with pressure instead of a sad walk around empty gens.

  9. 🖤 Corrupt Purge is great for injuring survivors from a distance, but do not spend too much time focusing on it. It is a tool, not a lifestyle.

  10. 🩸 Corrupt Pools of Devotion that are well out of your way should be left alone until you are closer to them, or until survivors are working on generators or totems near them. Get maximum value and do not waste the ability on a cardio session.

Final Vommy Mommy Thoughts

As of 2026, Dead by Daylight has changed a lot, but The Plague still scratches a very specific itch: the itch to ruin someone’s day with projectile biology. If you can keep players infected and use your add-ons and perks efficiently, she can be incredibly difficult to counter as a survivor. You will still miss. You will still vomit on a tree. You will still get stunned at the worst possible moment. But when it works, when four survivors are coughing, vomiting, and spreading infection across every pallet and generator, you feel like a goddess. A disgusting goddess. Good luck mastering Dead by Daylight's one and only 'Vommy Mommy.'
